Looking for a great vacation spot for you and the family before summer vacation is over? You have come to the right place. Holiday World and Splashing Safari are a great place to spend time with the family, ride rides, and soak up some sun. Looking for a thrilling coaster, a long water slide, kiddy ride, or a carnival ride you can find them all here. With its sections named after holidays, everyone will love this place.
Holiday World consists of six different sections: Christmas, Halloween, Fourth of July, Fun Town, Splashing Safari, and Thanksgiving.
The most famous ride at Holiday World and Splashing Safari would have to be The Voyager located in Thanksgiving. In 2006 it was rated the best wooden roller coaster.
The Raven, located in Halloween was rated best wooden roller coaster for 2001 and 2002. The other main roller coaster, The Legend, is also located in Halloween. And then there is the Liberty Launch, located in you guessed it Fourth of July, that brings you up eight stories then drops you straight down, and bounces up and down and up and down.
Holiday World and Splashing Safari are very family friendly parks. There are multiple places called Pepsi Oasis where you can get your choice of a Pepsi product free. That is right I said free. That is one of the main attractions at Holiday World and Splashing Safari. All your drinks are free. And now Holiday World and Splashing Safari are even more family friendly by establishing a new no smoking law. The only places you can light up are at a dedicated smoking area. There are “smoking zones” in every part of the park except the Splashing Safari.
The main attractions in Splashing Safari are the Bakuli, which is Swahili for bowl. You start seven stories up and slide down into a dark tunnel and then into a six story bowl. The inner tube you ride in has four holes for this fun family ride. Then, there is the Bahari River, which is what my little sister loves the most. It is just a lazy river that you can ride around in. The deepest it gets is about two feet. There are also they Bahari which is one if the newer rides. It is a themed wave pool with geysers and spray jets. Jungle racer is ten racing rides that are 314 feet long and drop five stories. Zinga is a lot like the Bakuli but you start off on an eight stories high and then you slide into a funnel. Then, finally there us the Zoombabwe which is the world’s tallest enclosed water slide will keep you in darkness the entire ride, so feel free to scream as loud as you want…no one will see you. And a great bonus about Splashing Safari is that there are free sunscreen stations!
Some of the great rides on the amusement side of the park would have to be the hallow swings located in Halloween. These are like swings you ride at a carnival, but they go way up high into the sky. Then, there is the Turkey Whirl, which is just like the tilt-a-whirl, only you ride inside turkeys, which is conveniently located in Thanksgiving. Here are a list of the other rides found there, see if you can decide which holiday they belong to.
Eagles Flight,
The Freedom Train,
Gobbler Getaway,
Lewis & Clark Trail,
Frightful Falls,
Paul Revere’s Midnight Ride,
Raging rapids,
Revolution,
Rough Riders Bumper Cars,
Scarecrow Scrambler,
And Thunder Bumpers.
So, come on down to Santa Clause, Indiana and have some great, family fun!
