Flag day in the US is a holiday that becomes more popular every year. While June fourteenth has officially been designated as the birthday of the flag, it took decades for the holiday to become official. It began as a holiday for schoolchildren by an educator to educate students about the origins of the flag. Eventually the holiday was adopted by President Woodrow Wilson but became official with a congressional act signed by President Harry Truman in 1949. Flag Day is celebrated annually and is a patriotic time.
