Since I couldn’t give up working out, I had to equip my home with enough exercise equipment to keep boredom at bay. Being the miser that I am, I started out buying the cheapest equipment on the market. What a mistake that was. The cheap stuff is designed to function more as high priced, dust garnering laundry holders. But I wanted to actually use the stuff. My first treadmill turned out to be a couple of rolling pins with industrial strength rubber bands instead of a real belt. I think I was actually able to put approximately thirty-four miles on it before it gave out.
The only piece of equipment that was more shoddily manufactured was the rickety weight bench that I bought at the same time. At least the treadmill lasted through five workouts. The weight bench on the other had, didn’t make it through my first set of thigh extensions. Slapping four ten-pound weights on the tiny bar at the bottom, I should have clued in that something was amiss by the way the bench shook under the weight. But in the moment, I didn’t pay any attention. As I sat down, the bench moaned audible. After extending my leg three times, I felt the familiar burn. Pumped with adrenaline, I really extended on the fourth rep which caused the attachment to snap off the end of the bench.
Although I escaped unharmed, I became dedicated to finding the best equipment at the lowest prices. After many other equipment failures, I finally found American Fitness Equipment. The elliptical trainer seemed just as well constructed. But that wasn’t even the best part. The weight bench was simply gorgeous. It was made out of tempered steel and the welds looked like they were done by skilled craftsmen.
Even though I was pleased by the appearance of the equipment, I was still not a full believer. Being burned so many times in the past, I wanted to make sure that American Fitness Equipment products could stand up to the punishment I put fitness tools through. As soon as I had the American Fitness Equipment home, I put the various pieces through all the paces. Totally impressed, I began to think American Fitness Equipment was different. That was over two years ago and I am very happy to say that I have not had a single equipment failure despite my vigorous workouts.
