Gwyneth Paltrow Is Not British

Gwyneth Paltrow has done a lot in a very short time with her acting career but when you consider the fact that she has a director for a father and an actress for a mother then it was only a matter of time before she fell into the “family business.” But she rose quickly and attained a level of stardom that many actresses would love to have. Some of her fame can be attributed to popular misconceptions.

Gwyneth Paltrow was born on September 27, 1972 in Los Angeles, California to producer/director Bruce Paltrow and Tony award winning actress Blythe Danner. Needless to say acting was in Gwyneth Paltrow’s blood and she did not disappoint. When she was 11 years old her family moved to Massachusetts where her father had found production work and that is where Gwyneth Paltrow finished her high school days and also where she started to take a serious interest in acting. When she was 19 Gwyneth Paltrow tried to take Art History courses at the University of California but the lure of acting proved to be too strong so she quit the University of California and set out on her career in acting. That same year she received two bit parts in her first two movies. The first was the box office bomb Shout that starred John Travolta. Her next role was a small part in the wildly successful Peter Pan movie Hook that starred Robin Williams and Dustin Hoffman. She had just decided to leave college for a career in acting and already 19 year old Gwyneth Paltrow was appearing in huge blockbuster movies. But her flowing blonde hair and stunning good looks were not done yet as Gwyneth Paltrow was just getting started.

In 1995 she played a more significant role in the movie Jefferson In Paris where she played the role of Patsy Jefferson. Later in that year she appeared in the movie Se7en with Brad Pitt and that is the moment that put Gwyneth Paltrow in the international spotlight. It wasn’t so much her performance in Se7en that got people asking questions about Gwyneth Paltrow but it was her relationship that started with rising mega star Brad Pitt that really got people talking. Gwyneth Paltrow and Brad Pitt dated and eventually got engaged. The engagement was news all over the world and suddenly everyone knew who Gwyneth Paltrow was or at least they thought they did. It took a long time for Gwyneth Paltrow to shake that “British girl that was engaged to Brad Pitt” stigma which was a problem considering she was not British. But Gwyneth Paltrow saw her way through the whole thing and in 1997 she called off her engagement to Brad Pitt. They both agreed that two successful careers in show business would not allow them to have a happy marriage so they broke off their engagement and stay close friends to this day. Gwyneth Paltrow did eventually marry Chris Martin in 2003 and they have 2 children together.

On the heels of the Brad Pitt engagement cancellation Gwyneth Paltrow received a role in the movie Shakespeare In Love in 1998. For her work in that movie as a leading actress she won the Academy Award and that stands today as her one and only Academy Award nomination. She has played a variety of roles from the very obese Rosemary Shanahan where she had to wear a suit that looked like it added 200 pounds to her to a character name Liv in the 2000 movie Duets where Gwyneth Paltrow got to sing her own parts. She is a versatile actress and rapidly becoming one of the top stars in all of Hollywood. She increases her stock with a starring role in the highly anticipated new release Iron Man and it looks like nothing is going to stop Gwyneth Paltrow now.
