Though there is more than a bit of controversy regarding Madrid nightclubs. This has nothing to do with their reputability or quality level. The argument pits locals who frequent Madrid nightclubs and e-blogging tourists who visit Madrid nightclubs against Spaniards and tourists who claim superior Spain clubbing to be found in Barcelona, Seville, Valencia... you get the idea. In any event, Madrid clubbing is alive and well, and Madrid nightclubs proliferate.
The key vocabulary word here is "Discoteca". The majority of Madrid nightclubs carry this noun, followed by some flowery verbal distinction. A couple of exceptions include the Bar de Copaqs Tropical House and the Gran Madrid, though the latter is technically a casino. Some Madrid nightclubs include: Discoteca al Lab?Oratorio, Discoteca Palacio de Gaviria, Discoteca Pink, Discoteca Gold Field, Discoteca Avenida, Discoteca Reina X 1 Dia, Discoteca Bash Line, Discoteca Sala de Fiestas Florida Park, Discoteca Buddha del Mar, Discoteca Chango Club, Discoteca Mito Disco Club, Discoteca Cheyenne, Discoteca Coppelia, Discoteca Dark Hole (also known as "the Gothic Club"), Discoteca Disco Club Mit, Discoteca el Son, Discoteca Living Room, Discoteca Ocho y Medio Club, Discoteca Empire, Discoteca Gabana 1800, Discoteca Heaven, Discoteca Joy Madrid, Discoteca Kapital, Sala de Conciertos, Discoteca Macumba, Discoteca Marmara, Discoteca Maxime, Discoteca Nasti Club, Discoteca Nells, Discoteca de la Reine de la Retro, Discoteca Nuit, Discoteca Opium, Discoteca la Boite del Pintor, Discoteca de Juye Fass and Discoteca Pacha.
But Madrid clubbing doesn't stop there. The list of Madrid nightclubs continues with Discoteca Palace, Discoteca Cool, Discoteca Cleofas, Discoteca Heineken, Discoteca Attica, Discoteca Pasapoga, Discoteca Avana, Discoteca Azucar, Discoteca Ryscal 11, Discoteca Black Jack, Discoteca la Sala, Discoteca Sala Ampliate, Discoteca Sala de Fiestas Scala Melia Castilla, Discoteca But, Discoteca Cache Cubano, Discoteca Sun Dance, Discoteca Sweet, Discoteca the Moon.
Also worth mentioning among Madrid nightclubs (indeed, notable among Spain clubbing in general) are Sala el Sol, Sala de Fiestas Chango, Sala de Fiestas Golden Gran Via, Sala de Fiestas Golden Boite, Sala Copernico, Sala de Fiestas Tosca Boite, Sala Taboo, Sala Ritmo y Compas, Sala la Riviera, and Sala Devina Aqualung.
I don't know if any or all of these places can help tip the balance to Madrid nightclubs over their competition in Spain. Clubbing in Spain, however, could require much time to test the thesis. Remember that dinner is traditionally eaten very late - around nine or ten in the evening, much to the chagrin of some bloggers, but hey, you've got to get your energy up, should you want to start working on the list above. Plus, waiting to eat means you can drink down lots of the internationally known Spanish wine list beforehand and not have to eat on an empty stomach. It's a process.
