I have never volunteered to be a matchmaker. I shy away from trying to set-up a date. In addition I lack any experience with the writing of ads that papers class as "personals." Lancaster, CA, however, is the home of a young girl who acquired, with my assistance, information that could help with the writing of a Lancaster personal ad.
That young girl, then in her early teens, spent one winter afternoon at my home, while her father completed there some needed building repairs. On that day I had no idea that she would later move to Lancaster, CA. I had no idea that she might one day want to write a Lancaster personal ad. I did know on that day that I wanted to entertain my young guest. I also knew that I had the makings of a hand-crafted valentine stuffed in my closet.
I thus brought into my living room a box full of pink cardboard squares, squares that had been cut so as to contain a heart shape. That same box also had various and sundry supplies, such as lace, colored paper and markers. I placed that box next to my young guest, and I provided her with a pair of scissors and some glue. She immediately got to work on creating a valentine. Without knowing it, we had together completed step one of preparing for the later writing of a Lancaster personal ad.
The valentine crafted on that day by that young California female did not represent an effort to display love to a boyfriend. It was a valentine for a beloved parent. Still, the crafting of a valentine always causes one to consider the various aspects of any relationship. It demands an examination of the nature of that relationship. Hence, if a romantic relationship could begin in Lancaster, CA, then such considerations would benefit the writer of a Lancaster personal ad.
After all, take a close look at any of the ads that the papers class as "personals." Lancaster personal ads would be, would they not, simply printed "valentines" to prospective dating partners, partners living in the area around Lancaster, CA? Each ad, or "valentine," would contain praise for one or more characteristics of the prospective date.
In view of that fact, it becomes clear how a young girl's crafting of valentines could prepare her for the writing of a personal ad. And if she were to move to Lancaster, CA, then her valentine-making would have prepared her for the writing of a Lancaster personal ad.
Perhaps the owner of a dating service might find in the above story the idea for a new type of promotion. Perhaps such an owner might institute the holding of valentine-making classes for young boys and girls. If so, then a writer, one who never aspired to be a matchmaker, would have introduced to the owner of a dating service a new type of marketing scheme.
Even if no aspiring or "certificated" matchmaker follows-up on the above suggestions, suggestions for preparing young children to write a personal ad, this writer stands ready to prepare another young girl, possibly a young granddaughter. If that young girl comes from Lancaster, CA, then she too could learn the basics of a Lancaster personal ad.
