Video games used to be a teenage boy thing. All boys went through it and most parents waited with their breath held until it was over. That was the old days . These days gamers can be almost anyone. You probably won't be able to recognize them just by how they look or how old they are. In fact you could be passing one at work and not even know it.
As the market for video games changed so has our language. Now certain phrases are popping up and they seem odd to the non gamer but they make those of us who play light up like a kid on Christmas morning. So what's with the new phrases and what do they mean and how can a non gamer hope to survive in a talk with a gamer?
Well that is why I'm here. I will act as your guide in this new world. Hold hands so no one gets lost on this trip. The first and only really important phrase in the game world is gamingfaqs. These are the places that gamers can go to find out helpful tips tricks and cheats on almost any game they have.
Gamefaqs can do more then help you beat an unbeatable level. A good gamefaq will help you decide if this game is right for you, give you a look at the graphics on the game, tell you all the things the instruction never mentioned that you should probably know in my case it helped me decide what items to sell off so I could keep playing one of my games. I wish it had warned me though before I bought my newest game since the game had a really bad reaction to my system. It became unplayable and almost ruined my game system. I was lucky that the store was willing to do a return on the game and give me store credit towards another.
Maybe because of this I will join gamefaqs just to warn others about my problem. Joining gamefaqs sites is easy. Most of them are free and easy to find once you enter the keyword gamingfaqs in any search engine.
So who should join one of these and why? Well like I said they are free or some of them are so cost is not something I factor into this discussion. I think any gamer who has proven that they can control themselves on the net and is reasonable and mature in the way they deal with Internet chatting is a good candidate for the world of gamefaqs.
That being said the one group I really think should belong to these sites are parents of gamers. I am an adult gamer myself but I am constantly in shock over the number of people who just let their kids buy what ever kind of game they want. I know it's tough as an adult to watch everything a kid or a teen does but wow.
It's a simple thing to correct I think. Join a gamefaqs site and tell your kids you will print up a game guide or gamefaq for them and watch them show yow you what games they have. They would have to really not be listening to pass up a chance like that one.
