Fun in the Sun at Saint Augustine Beach

Saint Augustine, Florida is the oldest city in the United States of America. Visiting the city is a trip back to the days of Spanish colonialism, an experience that is truly unique in the many cities of the US. Besides the great history to be experienced in Saint Augustine there is also the pleasures of Saint Augustine Beach, one of Florida's many popular beaches that attracts an estimated 5 million visitors a year.

Saint Augustine Beach lies on Anastasia Island just off the coast of Saint Augustine.  To get to Anastasia Island you must cross the historic Bridge of Lions from St Augustine, one of the most beautiful and historical bridges in the United States.

Located about 5 miles from St Augustine, the City of St Augustine Beach is its own city, renowned for its wide, white sandy beaches.  It truly houses some of the greatest beaches in Florida.  With its close proximity to St Augustine Saint Augustine Beach also allows visitors to experience all the historical heritage of this colonial city while staying in the fresh clean beach air of the city of St Augustine Beach.

Among the other attractions you will find near Saint Augustine Beach is the Oldest House Museum.  This house is said to be the oldest house in the entire United States.  It is a fascinating historical site unlike any you will be able to find anywhere in the United States.

You can also visit the St Augustine Alligator Farm only a few miles from Saint Augustine Beach.  The St Augustine Alligator Farm is fun for the whole family.  There are lots of great animals to see here: alligators, birds, even Galapagos tortoises.  Unlike many other such places all of the viewing areas use large glass panels that go from the ground up, so even the little ones will be able to see all of the animals.

On Anastasia Island you will also find Anastasia Island State Park.  The beaches in Anastasia Island State Park are even better taken care of than the public beaches of Saint Augustine Beach.  You do have to pay to get into the park but the cost is only $3.

Along with other pleasures of the beach there is an islet at Anastasia Island State Park where you can join in on other water sports such as kayaking and windsurfing.
