Forecast Accuracy and Chinese Divination

Added: 09/28/2006

The goal of astrologers is to provide accurate interpretations of the celestial patterns displayed by the universe. As with any book written in a foreign language interpretations are not always easy to comprehend, hence it takes a long period of time before an accurate transcription of the scenario being played out in the heavens can be properly understood. Chinese divination using astrology is one of the oldest research systems for the study of celestial patterns and movement in existence and has regularly provided accurate assessments of future events over many thousands of years.

Astrology or the study of the planetary movements as a means of identifying events on Earth has fascinated man for thousands of years. Numerous studies have produced evidence of a connection between events occurring in the universe with what transpires on Earth, although none of this is accepted by the scientific community. Open mindedness in relation to astrology is a fundamental requirement in order to harness the concept that interaction between the universe and our lives is real.

Various Chinese divination mechanisms have been practiced for several thousand years while astrology and rune divination are two that have survived the test of time. Astrology from a Chinese divination perspective differs from that utilized in the west by placing less significance on an individual’s place of birth and by the introduction of five elements: Fire, Water, Wood, Earth and Metal instead of just three elements used in Western Astrology ; Fire, Water and Air.

Astrological Chinese divination although possessing a twelve months year cycle begins and ends at different times to that of the west with the beginning of the Chinese new year starting in January or February of its Western counterpart.

Immediately visible differences between Chinese and Western astrology relate to the individual signs, whereas Western astrologers have opted to identify Star Signs using celestial identities the Chinese have remained firmly Earth bound by categorizing each of the twelve month star signs with animals with which they suggest compares most favorably with the characteristic traits commonly found in individuals for each of the periods. The animals chosen by the Chinese are: Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey. Rooster, Pig and the Dog. Obviously the dragon is, as far as we know, a mythical creature, although when included it was possibly thought to be real.

Chinese divination using astrology is one of the first to discover planets in the outer reaches of our solar system that could not be seen by the human eye or through a telescope constructed pre-500BC. By applying arithmetical calculations together with educated assumptions related to aspects of the night sky visible pre-500 BC Chinese astrologers established that planets such as Pluto and Uranus had to exist even though they were not visible. Even more astonishing is that these early Chinese calculations compare very favorably with the actual locations in space of these planets as we know them to be today.

The credibility of Chinese divination in its interpretations of the celestial language was considered so useful by the dynastic rulers of various Chinese empires that astrologers for many thousands of years occupied positions of power close to the throne and would be relied upon to provide accurate forecasts in relation to war strategies and diplomacy. Of significance on the diplomacy front was the use of Chinese divination to assess the worthiness of marriage between the children of various rulers, although compatibility between the individuals themselves rarely entered the equation rather, how such a union would strengthen regional relationships was more to the fore. Yet Chinese divination concerning compatibility between individuals was a recognized feature that could be employed to recognize mutual suitability. It simply needed time to pass for this category to grow in importance.
