Everybody must have heard in the world about the fools day. This day is also known as April fools day. This is a day when people play tricks on each other and generally have fun. While the general trend is to have fun, there are few people who take advantage of the fools day to really do mischief and harm others. I have known many instances when teenagers play ugly practical jokes in the name of April fools day. Without saying this is in terrible bad taste, not to mention dangerous as bad practical jokes can turn into life threatening situations or even worse fatal. In that case the fools day would have a different meaning, i.e. it made a fool of the prankster instead of the other way round.
April fools day owes it origin to the change of calendar from the Julian to Gregorian, where April 1st was the New Year initially and it became January 1st according to the latter calendar. The inertia to change of certain brackets of people forced them to continue celebrating April 1st as the New Year even when the majority of the world changed. In order to make fun of them, the Gregorian's started playing tricks on them on April 1st. Hence, the name of fools day. It was a day when tricks were played - and as a result of which there was a lot of fun and laughter. Because it is associated with fun, fools day became more and more popular and now it is observed all over the world with equal joy and verve.
In schools, colleges, offices, on the streets everywhere on April 1st you will see reason to smile, because at every turn there some prankster pulling a fast one on someone. The success of these tricks are also owed to the multi-billion tricks industry which bring out on the market fantastically innovative tricks, competitively prices and easily available. A child can easily buy an April fools day kit with his allowance - and they do having a lot of fun at their friends' and relatives expenses.
There is one thing though that schools, parents and generally adults have to inculcate in the children, i.e. safety. Children should know better not to cross the line between too much fun and cruelty as well. They should also know not to play or induce situations where fire, deep water or acute fright exposure is there. And there are many others. It is very important that industries print warning indicating ages of the recommended who can use the kit or practical toys/ jokes safely. It is very easy to turn a joke into a tragedy unless we are careful about these points.
The fools day is a beautiful custom and one which should be promoted. In today's world if there is anything lacking is laughter. We need days like these more - but remember and keep high on the list your and others' safety. Your fun should never at anybody expense - whether that would be feelings or property. Laugh and make others laugh and promote the spirit of this day. It only comes along once a year so pull a prank on someone that you hate and make them the butt of the joke. Although always use pranks in good spirits, you can only spray someone with a fire extinguisher so many times before it becomes less funny.
