There are several options when it comes to working out. The first option is to join a club so that would be the best place to start. Joining a club can be thrilling, can even be enjoyable, and for most people of intermediate skill or better, joining a club is an excellent, viable option. For most people, and this covers ninety percent of the population or better, the club option is a waste of cash, a black hole for money, like throwing dollars right down the last swirl of the toilet bowl. Why is that, because even though most gyms have wonderful luxuries and excellent machines and all the weights you could ever need to whip that flabby body into shape, the fact is they are a great inconvenience and a costly one too? If you are out of shape it is most likely because you lack self discipline. Be honest, the first step to fixing a problem is to figure out what that problem is. If you’re out of shape, you lack self discipline. What are the odds you are going to make time to go out of your way to work out? Not good. What usually ends up happening is that you pay the exorbitant bill for years and hardly ever use the facilities.
Option two is a better option, but is even more costly. You can buy your own equipment from stair masters to skiing machines to free weights to those specialty machines like Bowflex or those bunmasters, but the fact of the matter is, is that this can be almost excruciatingly expensive, we’re talking multiple thousands of dollars here, just to get in shape, and then what if it’s a passing phase and you don’t keep up with your new training regimen. It looks cool on film when Rocky wakes up at six A.M. and jogs through town and gets a statue but the fact of the matter is that raw eggs taste like crap, they are so much better in omelet form, but then that doesn’t get you into shape now does it? Getting up before dawn and putting a couple sweaty hours in before you even go to work day in and day out is what gets you into shape. Discipline is what gets you into shape. You can’t buy that.
The best option is to buy used fitness machines. Buy used fitness machines and used gym equipment. Why waste all your money on new stuff when you can find used fitness machines in abundance in almost any town in almost any newspaper, and you know what, most used fitness equipment for sale has very little if any mileage on it, because most people lack the discipline to get into shape, that’s why they bought the new shiny equipment in the first place, because they felt guilty about being out of shape. Used fitness equipment is substantially cheaper, so if it doesn’t work out, at least you won’t waste a whole bunch of money, if it does you’ve lost nothing. In the end, used fitness machines can be resold, so about the only thing you’ll lose is time, maybe a little bit of cash, and some self respect. You could, however, get into shape.
