Thanks to the hit show Seinfeld, the world has been brought the strange day called Festivus Day or the day of airing grievances.  Festivus Day is not your average holiday as it is not mired in joy or celebration but instead a bunch of people complaining about one another.  This is rapidly becoming one of the strangest traditions or holidays that this country has ever seen.  While not really considered a holiday, many people across the land are giving it much more credit than it deserves from the stand point of traditional values.  The experts say that Festivus Day is tearing at the fabric of families as hurt feelings and severe bashings are becoming the norm for this so called holiday.  As the holiday that is Festivus Day dictates, all of the participants are to air all grudges that they have or anything else about the family and people around them that has made them mad in the past year.  Festivus Day has yet to turn violent but some people fear that that day is just around the corner as people take part in this irreverent celebration.  The experts blame the Seinfeld show for starting the fire that is burning inside so many people for the Festivus day.

The Festivus for the rest of us day is centered around the Festivus pole which some say relates to the Christmas tree in one fashion or another.  This has upset the traditional values of people all across the world.  Festivus for the rest of us is the very thing that has created a world wide debate over the influence of television in this country. Many say that too many people are allowing themselves to be influenced by the television programs that have them riveted to the tube every night.  This influence was no surprise when it came to Seinfeld, the show which spawned so many catch phrases and apparel selections.  Seinfeld set the standard for strangeness in the way the show was created.  It was certainly like the show said to be a show about nothing.  It revolved around the central theme of four people who did nothing but spend their time thinking up new and creative ways to act stupid.  Festivus for the rest of us was one of those stupid actions as the character of George's father spent the afternoon berating his family about all the things that ticked him off about them over the course the past year.  This was centered around his Festivus pole which stood proudly in the middle of the room and was an object of affection for the man.  This caused a nation wide stir as people went to great lengths to create their own Festivus poles and celebrate the holiday.
 
Festivus for the rest of us is a nation wide craze as greeting card companies have jumped on the bandwagon hoping to cash in.  Those Festivus day is not a holiday for gift giving, more and more retailers are offering gift ideas to celebrate the holiday. But the only true way to celebrate the holiday is to give out your annoyances and really let it all out. If something has been trapped inside you and you have been waiting to let it all out, then festivus day is the day that you can unleash all that anger that has been building up inside you.
