Feminism And Sex Distinction

Feminism and sex distinction differentiates sex from gender. Said another way, gender may not always be the same as the sex of the individual. Gender equality and sexual indifference have led many feminists to believe in this theory. In this example, sex would mean the very act of having sex and gender would mean the male or the female person. When the two words are used in everyday conversation, they are not specified in this fashion.

Second wave feminist views came to light because of the feminism and sex distinction. The natural body and the natural gender are not one in the same. You could be a female with a male heart or vice versa. It came out in the 1960's and lasted thought to the 1980's. It was the goal of feminism and gender distinction groups to stop oppression and the discrimination of the female sex.

Schools were forced to choose between them even. They would have all female colleges and all men colleges. There were some coed as well. The women got together and started demanding to be let in to the high profile schools such as The Citadel and Virginia Military Institute (VMI). They made their case and soon after, the all male schools started admitting women to their halls. Education had become about who could play the best sports. Women started excelling in soccer, swimming, and track. They brought their abilities to the table and nearly ran over the males.

Th martial arts was a sport confined to just men long ago. There were no women allowed in its ranks. Now with the birth of daughters in Asian families, they had to turn to the women to carry on the traditions. There are many fine martial artists out there that can beat a man in the process. Cynthia Rothrock is one of the martial arts champions out there that is female. There are many more in all sports proving females are just as good as males at most everything.

Another thing that came out of their fight was the Equal Rights Amendment. Women wanted to be treated fairly as men. But the men were getting better jobs, more pay, and better benefits. The women didn't want to be known as the weaker sex, and so stood up and demanded their rights.

There are women in the movies and TV who began to show the feminist point of view. Some of these include Wonder Woman, Charlie's Angels, Princess Leia in Star Wars, and the Bionic Woman. All of these brought women to the forefront and it wasn't just a feminism and sex distinction problem anymore. The women proved that they could do just as good a job as the men could. They also proved they should be paid as much as a male and treated as nice.

Another great example of a TV female taking charge would be Buffy The Vampire Slayer. A slayer was born into every generation and is called when the last one dies. These females are string, heal fast, and move like the wind. They were always females. Xena, the Warrior Princess was another portrayal of feminism and sex distinction. She could take on ten men at a time and still walk away from the battle.

By the same token, women have to be ready to take care of their new found rights. If this means paying for dinner or holding th door open for a man, they shouldn't scoff at the idea. This is what we have wanted for many years. That is equality and it doesn't come cheap. The problem lies in the women who are accustomed to being treated nice and now all of a sudden have to give up those rights. They are not happy about it at all. These are the people who need to learn they can't have it both ways. Choose one or the other. These women drive the rest of the group crazy with their whiny ways. You can't abolish inequality without having to make a few sacrifices in the process. Some of the women just haven't learned this yet.
