Famous Nightlife: Stuttgart And Beyond

European nightlife is legendary amongst travelers, and rightfully so! Of course, German nightlife - for good reasons - holds a place near and dear to many a connoisseur's heart, and the famous cities that define Germany's nightlife, Stuttgart, Munich, and Hamburg, vie for the attentions of visitors from all over the world. If you were to visit any one of these cities, what would you find?

Do you ever wonder what is so special about the Hamburg nightlife?  Are you surprised that so many visitors to Bavaria swear by the attractions that define the Munich nightlife experience?  Were you aware that when it comes to an exciting nightlife, Stuttgart has no equal?  What is it about Germany in general but these cities in particular that has become such a magnet to travelers the world over?

One term that can be heart time and again is Gemutlichkeit.  While a literal translation would take away from the meaning of this term, suffice it to say that it refers to a combination of comfortable surroundings, being treated like one of the gang rather than an outsider, and by an overwhelming sense of well-being that comes from beautiful surroundings, friendly people, good prices, and tasty foods and drinks.  Germany has no rival when it comes to Gemutlichkeit and the locals know it and work very hard to cultivate it. No wonder the word spreads and more and more travelers visit in hopes of experiencing this wonderful kind of hospitality that does not have an equal in Europe.

Munich nightlife, for example, is well known for its unfathomable number of beer houses.  Unlike the American equivalent of a bar or brew pub, a beer house quite often is the actual outlet for a brewery that servers up one of the famous German beers.  Yet unlike the brew pub or the trendy places that define nightlife Stuttgart-style, the beer house is not big on shiny, copper kettles and steel and glass construction and a pool table in the back.  On the contrary! Locals frequent these venues but they don't mind sharing the space with the visitors.  Separate tables are rare, and long tables and benches are more often the norm.  Nobody stands on formality in these locations, and you may quite possibly find yourself sitting across or next to a visiting couple from Sweden, a vacationing dignitary from Nairobi, or a secretary who lives across the street.  Everyone gets to know everyone else and happily chatters the night away, sometimes with hand and foot gestures when common words cannot be found.

If beer and traditional Bavarian music are not your idea of a fun evening on the town, consider the many offerings of the Hamburg nightlife.  Unlike the nightlife Stuttgart is famous for, Hamburg's brand of entertainment is a mix of eclectic little establishments that may be nestled in between the red light district houses of "ill repute" that stud the Reeper Bahn.  Hamburg is famous for its music scene and it is not unusual for a club or discotheque to fly in a famous disc jockey just for the evening or for a special event. If music is your game, Hamburg will be your favorite playground!

Of course, when it comes to German nightlife, Stuttgart is legendary!  What sets apart this scene from so many others is the fact that when it comes to nightlife, Stuttgart is the actual trendsetter.  Long since having foregone the notion of keeping up with others, this city has chosen to be a trailblazer and what's in tomorrow, is quite possibly already all the rage today in this amazing city.  If you like experiencing nightlife on the edge, then Stuttgart is the place to be!
