Children are wonderful. Many people love and have children. In fact, the average amount of children per couple is two children. Therefore, the average family comprises four people. The family consists of two adults and two children. Many children grow up in great families through birth and adoption. These children get enough food, shelter, clothing, and love. However, there are many poor children in the United States and all over the world. These poor children are in need of getting proper food, shelter, clothing, and love. The way that these children get the required items that they require is through the caring and the attention of many people.

Everyone wants to help needy kids. Americans donate backpacks and school supplies, cheer the Special Olympics, and volunteer to read picture books to kindergarteners. Americans willingly acknowledge, at least to a limited extent, their shared responsibility for raising the nation's children. What happens, though, when needy kids grow up? Where is the generosity of which Americans are so proud, when the people in need are adults?
