Adoption by same sex couples is legal in many places, but only in some places in the United States and Canada. There is a lot of controversy surrounding adoption by same sex couples. Many of the controversy stems from the potential for gender confusion in the child and for the general well being of the child as well. Many kids that have same sex couples as parents tend to be picked on at school, even if it was not the child's choice. This is the sad reality for the kids that get adopted by same sex couples. Of course, it doesn't turn out bad for all kids; some same sex couples can be very good parents.
