What is it about the Berlin night life experience that leaves such an unforgettable impression on all who experience it? Could it be the famous Berlin nightclubs? Or perhaps it is the growing popularity of speed dating Berlin-style that has captured the hearts and minds of those who swear by their Berlin night life experience to be without equal. If one may believe the enthusiastic comments of many attendees, it is indeed the speed dating that has become the most famous attraction of the Berlin night life.
The idea of speed dating itself is not new, and most certainly not unique to the city of Berlin or to Germany. The process is deceptively simple: events are held within the city for which singles may register if they wish to attend. Usually attendance at these events is defined by the area where the event is held, and the age group which it seeks to serve. Some events cater to the younger set, while others are specifically designed with the more mature population in mind. It is not unusual to meet fifty singles, although larger events are increasingly popular. Quite often the event hosts specifies the amount of time each single has to interact with another single. Some permit three minutes per interaction, while others may give you as much as ten. The numbers depend on the size of the event, the number of attendees, and the number of speed dates each attendee is guaranteed to enjoy. After the preset number of interactions is over, you will have the opportunity to mingle with the crowd and meet and greet other singles with whom perhaps you had not had the opportunity to converse earlier, but who might have caught your eye from across the room. What makes the idea of speed dating so attractive is the fact that personal information, such as phone numbers and addresses, are not exchanged. Instead, if you find you have an interest in someone, you will be able to contact the even host, who will then contact the other single. If the interest is mutual, the event host will share the contact information of these interested singles, and a second date may be planned at their discretion.
Speed dating Berlin-style almost certainly leads to the one and only Coffee Connection, a high class coffee house that has long since been a staple in the Berlin night life scene. While it is not unusual for coffee houses to remain open late, this particular location does not limit itself to coffee and a few baked goods; instead, the menu includes sandwiches, antipasto, beer, and an extensive wine card which have made it a favorite among speed dating organizers throughout the city. Of course, the Berlin night life would not be complete without the many Berlin nightclubs that are available for the successful speed dater to hold their second and also subsequent dates!
The tops names are the Haifisch Bar which features sushi, life music, and is situated in Berlin's famous Kreuzberg location, and the Sage Club, which is well known for its three dance floors. The ambience is informal yet classy, and locals have long since considered these the premier addresses for cutting loose after a long day of work, and for meeting and spending some time with that special someone. Are you in the game?
