While there are many sports practiced competitively around the world, there are those that are not competed in major tournaments. Informal sports are those basically played for either amusement or relaxation purposes, and are rarely shown on television. Some examples of informal sport include dodge-ball, kickball, peteca and tag- sports usually played in playgrounds or on the beach.

Everything needs a category and believe it or not there is a category for games like dodgeball and that category is informal sports. I guess that, for the sake of convenience, everything probably needs a more specific category than just game or pastime. The list of informal sports is very interesting and while you may not consider some of these to be sports the most important thing is that somewhere, and some point in time, someone did consider these to be sports.
