Unlike some other national parks Elk Island National Park is open 24 hours a day. Also, you should know that Elk Island National Park is open seven days a week and all year around. This includes during the winter months as well. However, the biggest amount of people come during the spring and summer months when it is warmer. Also, before you come be sure to check into how much it costs because park user fees do apply. During the winter months some of the activities that you can do are unserviced camping, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, and even hiking. However, during the summer months they have a lot of other activities like golfing, kayaking, and canoing. Of course, you can do some of these actives all year around. Some of the all year round activities are animal gazing, hiking, and unserviced camping. They do have a few services that they do provide like telephones, washrooms, and potable water. Some people do go swimming, however, it is not recommended. This is because a lot of people get swimmers itch after swimming in these waters.
