Elk Island National Park In Canada

One of my favorite national parks to go to in the whole world would have to be Elk Island National Park. This is a place that you and your family can travel to, to have a great time and see some amazing wildlife. Elk Island National Park also has a great list of activities that you and your family can do together, and I think that is great for the people who do not care about seeing the animals. Elk Island is like no place that I have ever been to, and if you take your family there you will see what I mean.
Elk Island National Park is a great national park in Canada. This is one of the 42 national parks in Canada, so when you go up there on vacations, you will have a lot to do and see. Elk Island is also a great place to see animals too, and you can also see one of the biggest land animals in the world there. This would be the Bison, and it really is a sight to see. Your family is going to be amazed when they see this big animal roaming freely around the lands. Of course, Elk Island National Park also has a lot of other wonderful animals that you can see as well. No matter what you are into, I like to think that Elk Island has a little something for everyone. I would also like to point out that even though this is the 8th smallest park in Canada, it is the largest enclosed national park, and it has a total area of about 194 km square. The landscape at the Elk Island National Park is really a sight to see, and you are going to fall in love with the rolling grasslands and deep forest. Now, I did say that Elk Island National Park was home to the largest mammal in North America (the Wood Bison) but it is also home to the smallest mammal in North America, which would be the Pygmy Shrew. This really is a sight to see, however, you are going to have to look really hard if you are going to see the Pygmy Shrew. It is the smallest mammal in North America after all. However, there is also a lot of other stuff to do, if you are not into looking at wild animals. Elk Island National Park is home to lots of different activities.

Unlike some other national parks Elk Island National Park is open 24 hours a day. Also, you should know that Elk Island National Park is open seven days a week and all year around. This includes during the winter months as well. However, the biggest amount of people come during the spring and summer months when it is warmer. Also, before you come be sure to check into how much it costs because park user fees do apply. During the winter months some of the activities that you can do are unserviced camping, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, and even hiking. However, during the summer months they have a lot of other activities like golfing, kayaking, and canoing. Of course, you can do some of these actives all year around. Some of the all year round activities are animal gazing, hiking, and unserviced camping. They do have a few services that they do provide like telephones, washrooms, and potable water. Some people do go swimming, however, it is not recommended. This is because a lot of people get swimmers itch after swimming in these waters.

Elk Island National Park is really a fun place to go, and it a place that you are going to love to take your family. After going to Elk Island your family is going to want to go back all the time, and you are not going to be able to get enough of it. Going up to Elk Island National Park just to see the animals is well worth the trip, if you have never been. This is a national park that you hear people talking about all the time in the United State, and all over North America. Just remember that when going to this national park, when you are camping they are unserviced camp grounds. That is just a small fact that you should keep in mind. I really love coming to the Elk Island National Park and so does my family, and I know that your family will love coming to this national park as well.
