Elements To Know For Instant Messenger Services

Added: 05/09/2007

The desire for instant messenger services is growing every day. An idea that started out as a simple design has snowballed into a very popular way to communicate. Instant messaging can serve great purposes and has so many features that are just simply not available when chatting via telephone. A person should be aware of all that is involved with online chatting when deciding which service to use and beginning this form of communication.

It seems for instant messenger services, the sky may be the limit. This form of communication is taking off, people are in less need of expensive cells phone, quality of sound is usually good and this way of chatting is becoming more popular every day. The whole for instant messenger users can grow quite complicated and one should keep certain guidelines in mind when using this form of communication. It really is a virtual world, and a person must be aware of this; or they can become addicted to chatting. This has become a problem in some work places, as it is very easy for instant messenger to be downloaded; people are chatting away when they should be working. There are things to keep in mind when deciding to download this communication method.

It must be noted that the computer world is not the world of reality. In a place where strangers can meet online and within a matter of seconds, two people who would otherwise never have met before, are now chatting away. It can sometimes be easy to be carried away. Everyone may seem friendly when chatting online. However, a person must always remember that for instant messenger to work the way in which it was intended, you are not excluding anyone from contacting you, unless you purposely add them to your “ignore” list.

When a person is sitting behind a computer, it is easy to “say” things that a person would never say in “real life”. People often look to their online chatting to get an escape from a lonely life, a life in which they are shy, a life in which it is difficult to meet people in real life, and sometimes a way to pretend they are someone else. A person may find it easy to pretend they are attractive, popular, exciting, sexy, any numerous qualities that can be faked via online communication methods. Whether using instant Yahoo!, instant AIM or any other service, the results will be the same.

Always keep in mind, that for instant messenger users, you will usually never really know the person you are chatting with. Quite commonly, a person will say, “I know him, we’ve been chatting for weeks.” This does not mean they really know someone. When talking online, a person can never really truly know another. All they will see if what the other person allows them to see.

For example, a woman may be chatting with a man for many months. They may even be taking via web cams for instant messaging. She may see him looking very handsome, in a clean and tidy room. What she may not see, is that in the room next to his, stands his wife and young child. The wife is cooking, the child is playing with his toys and the wife is wondering when in the world her husband will finish with his “important business” he must conduct on his computer.

You can never really know someone that you “meet” online because you will most likely never see them when they are sad or angry. Sure, some people will vent to talk about things that are bothering them; but unless you are in person with someone who is under stress, you will never truly understand how they handle it, the words they say, how they interact with someone who is causing them stress or how loud they may yell. Most people will show their best qualities when on line, and save their worse qualities for when they shut off the computer.

For instant messenger users, this form of communication can be fun, it can be entertaining, it can makes time go by when your bored and you might even chat with people from all over the world; you may find you are learning a lot about different cultures and different ways of life. This method of communication can be a great way to stay in touch with friends and family. It is a terrific way to send files and photographs. It is simply a great invention. However, it should be used with the knowledge that any stranger you “meet” is someone you are not really “meeting”.
