Do You Want To Give A Thoughtful Present? How About Beautiful Christmas Gift Baskets Made By You?

Added: 01/16/2007

Christmas gifts that have a heart felt thought and which are made by you make the best present you could give friends and loved ones. Christmas gift baskets are really a gift you can't go wrong with, as long as you know the person's likes and interests and include some of these things in your gift basket, the person receiving it will love it. You don't have to keep your gift basket making skills just to the Christmas holiday, make them for gifts at Easter, birthdays, showers and weddings. The possibilities are endless. This is something easy and simple that you can enjoy putting together and making yourself.

The first thing you want to do is find the basket or other containers, such as, medium to large sleigh decorations, hat boxes, plant holders with a Christmas theme or Christmas colors in them or even a nice picnic basket. This will be the base for your Christmas gift baskets.

Secondly, you will need to decide what things you wish to include in your Christmas gift baskets. Things like candles in holiday scents, lotions, bath and spa works, jewelry, etc. Make sure the items you have chosen are going to fit in with the theme you are striving for. For instance, Christmas gift baskets should have colors like reds, gold, green, silver or a mix of these, with a reoccurring Christmas theme to them too.

Next, buy basket shred paper or basket grass. These are both available at almost all craft stores in the basket making sections. They come in a wide variety of colors for you to choose from also. You will use this to put in the bottom of your basket to fill it up with. This makes your items that will be included in your Christmas gift baskets stand on their own better.

Now, start placing the items in your Christmas gift baskets, you can use double-sided tape for items to keep upright in baskets better too. Just keep moving the items around until you find an array you like. You also want to make sure that items are facing toward the front of the basket; this helps the receiver tell what is all in the baskets and keeps the back of the baskets looking neat and pretty also. For items that may be taller or larger they may go better to the sides of the basket or maybe in the middle of basket.

Any bare spots in your Christmas gift baskets that are noticeable can be filled up with Christmas colored kisses, miniature Xmas ornaments, fake pretty poinsettias or anything else you might come up with.

Now, you must make a decision on whether you want to use cellophane basket wrap on your Christmas gift baskets or the shrink wrap. Personally, I think cellophane looks a lot better than the shrink wrap.

Wrap the entire basket in your choice of color basket cellophane wrap. Don’t get frustrated if on the first few tries you don’t get the cellophane tight enough around the basket, in about two tries you will get the hang of it. Use a pretty color ribbon to tie the cellophane together, which will hold the cellophane in place. You also want to make sure you leave enough cellophane wrap hanging out from the top were you tied it to create a fan like shape.

Then, just add a big beautiful Christmas bow you bought or one that you made by hand to your Christmas gift baskets and you are done. Now you have made a very thoughtful gift for your friends and loved ones to enjoy this holiday season.

Some ideas for items contained in your Christmas gift baskets include: in one basket you could place a couple Christmas colored or scented votive candles, home-made fudge and cookies, a Christmas music CD, Christmas ornaments or a beautiful set of holiday stationery and envelopes for them. Another idea for a basket is to place 2 large Christmas mugs with hot chocolate, mini marshmallows, hand-made Christmas ornaments you made and cookies, a holiday CD or DVD and a few Christmas kisses tucked throughout. Maybe add some gloves, scarves Christmas scented bubble bath and lotions. You can come up with items that you thing would best suit the person you are making the Christmas gift baskets for.

It is a treat to receive Christmas gift baskets from a loved or dear on. This kind of gift means a lot more than something just picked off of a store shelf, because you put thought and your time into it to make it just for this special person. So, happy Christmas gift basket making!
