Divorce Law And Self-Divorce

Added: 11/26/2005

The global implications of divorce are enormous. Among the changes is the local divorce law anywhere. Laws have been modified to fit our thought that everything is disposable and can be fixed with a lawsuit. No one knows where this trend could go, but it is all ready starting to create ripples in society that no one really thinks about. To explore the issue of divorce law on a global perspective, we must look beyond ourselves and see us all as one people trying to make the world work the way it is.

The implications of divorce spread far and the divorce law everywhere is constantly changing to fit the times we are in. It's unfortunate that it is easier to get a divorce than to figure out the actual problem; however, with the shift to an open court system, self divorce and divorces in general are easy to obtain for the a multitude of reasons, some logical and some are ridiculous. I have heard people say this many times when they've agreed to get married. "I'm not scared. If it doesn't work out, I can always get a divorce." It's part of the global disposable society that we have come to see as normal. Everything is disposable in this day in age.

Divorce law has changed to serve the needs of the individual to obtain a self-divorce. It's modifications should give everyone fair grounds to attain a divorce that according to divorce law. And in the end, the divorce should be equitable and fair at the end of the day. However, this is hardly ever the case. It seems the divorce law in most places favors the wealthier spouse or the one who acts first. The change in divorce law is in direct relation to the change in global norms.

o Divorce law has changed to meet this challenge of disposability. There are plenty of new avenues to take. Self-divorce has become a popular way to save money and time pursuing what used to be an arduous undertaking only a lawyer can understand. There are web sites world wide that will tell you the divorce law for your situation and where you live, all the options you have and offer to do the paperwork for you for as little as $250.00.
o Divorce law is now more complex in more places because they tried to simplify it. Self-divorce has caused regular people to question the divorce law itself, thereby causing it to be modified into confusion. In most areas, distinguishing which divorce law takes precedence is nearly impossible unless you specialize in divorce law.
o Laws have made marriage in an over all sense, dispensable. In many countries in Europe, you can divorce your spouse without them actually letting you divorce them. It's a one sided ordeal and it leads to the question - what if I don't want to be divorced. If your estranged spouse files first, then the divorce law says you have no choice.
o The rise in divorce has changed how society functions as a whole. Children are raised in daycare because there is not other place for them. Women have infiltrated the workforce vying for careers that have traditionally been held by men. They are the breadwinners and both mother and father. It's a triple full time job and somewhere - you must find sometime to sleep in the midst of all the craziness.

When all things are said and done - divorce is ugly. The divorce law has become the pinnacle in the civil courtroom. Today, disposability leads to litigatiosness, which brings us to the bowels of the divorce industry. That being said, we are all human, prone to mistakes and mishaps. I just have to wonder if it should cost us a fortune to be human or has society come to rely on something for nothing way too often?
