Christian Family Living Begins at Home

Christian family living is a way of life. It is an idea and a mindset, one must set his mind to live the Christian life and his family will follow. The family as a whole should know the goal and work together to keep the faith in the family. The husband and wife should set the example of Christian family life for the children and the children will join the Christian way of life.
Christian family living begins with mother and the father, either together or separately. Single parents are capable of making sure that their family lives the Christian family life. Apart from going to church on a regular basis and learning the Bible, a family can live the Christian family life by following the simple golden rules that everyone learned as a child. These include "doing unto others as one would have others do unto them" and common politeness in the home. These rules include the parents as well as the children. Husband and wife should treat each other with tenderness, love, common politeness and understanding. They should be able to live in harmony and be fair to each other before they expect their children to live in harmony and be fair to others.

The Christian family father is the provider of the family. The father cannot be a father or a Christian, if he is not first a provider. The Christian family life depends on a father that knows the needs of his children and wife and does his best to provide them. These needs may not necessarily be showering the children with gifts such as toys, cell phones, computers, etc. but his providing the basic important needs to living. The father should also feed his children's spiritual needs through providing knowledge of Christian values and beliefs. A father should also encourage his children to learn and grow and take on skills that will cause them to be good Christian family leaders and providers in their own families as adults. Discipline should result from love and not from power. One should not discipline their children just to show that they are stronger and more powerful.

The Christian family mother has many roles that she must play. The Christian family mother may be a wife, housekeeper, career woman, friendly neighbor and steward of the church. She must learn to balance all of these roles and allow them to function naturally. She should love and guide her children through life and support them in all of their dreams. She must keep the home in harmony and make it a place of love and safety. She must not become a slave to her children's needs and activities, but rather show them that activities do not make for a fulfilling life.

Many parents are single and have to fulfill both roles, both father and mother. This can weigh on a parent, but knowing that the Christian family life is supported by faith one will be helped by the grace of God in their endeavors. As a parent one must be sprit-filled and inspire their children. They can teach their children how to help with the household and together can live the Christian family life. Parents must nurture their children in the home through love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, gentleness and faith. These factors will cause a spirit-filled and faithful family that will live together happily despite shortcomings in life.

The Christian family will thrive if all members are able to live together in peace. Although peace may often seem hard to find in a household of children, the children will live together in harmony if the parents build a good and solid foundation based on faith and nurturing. The Christian family life can be achieved if the family is able to work together to keep the faith present despite what the world may throw in your path.
