Childrens Outdoor Play is Essential for good health

Most children love to play and make believe that they are cowboys, Indians, and doctors. Children need a great of amount of playtime in order to grown physically, mentally, and creatively. In fact, playing helps spark creativity in children. However, it is claimed that today's children don't get enough exercise because they spend too much time watching television. What is needed is more children's outdoor play for the health of children.
Most children like to play indoors and outdoors. The great outdoors can provide fresh air and lots of exercise for children all over the world. In fact, at school children have recess as a way for children to have exercise as they run, jump, and play on the monkey bars, jump robe, or play basketball. Childrens outdoor play is something that elementary schools used to promote for all children because childrens outdoor play is essential for their health and mental well being. In addition, it also helps children’s creative growth and development. But, today it seemed that the push for children's outdoor play has declined.

It seems that push toward it has declined because modern society is very busy in its day to day existence. Many school age children have too many hours of homework after school or they have too much after school activities in addition to a lot of homework. Therefore, children are too tired to play outdoors for more than maybe five minutes a day. In addition to having too much homework to do, children today seem to be preoccupied with television and computers and the internet so they are not interested in some childrens outdoor play during the day or early evening. Ideally, children would have limited time to watch television and to use the computer and the internet with a balance of playing outdoors for at least thirty minutes a day. Balancing children’s daily activities might just be the key to ensuring some quality childrens outdoor play during the day.

It is also claimed that the decline in the amount of children’s outdoor play is due to laziness on behalf of both parents and children. Parents seem to be too busy with work and other activities to see that their children have daily and adequate outdoor play. Many parents because they are tired at the end of a week of work relax by watching a weekend’s worth of television instead of perhaps doing yard work, playing football, or going swimming with their children. In other words, parents, in particular, and adults in general need to set a good example by engaging in many outdoor activities in order to encourage children to engage in some children’s outdoor play. Parents could and should engage in this type of outdoor play with their children; doing this will help provide a balance for children between indoor and outdoor activities.

Don’t worry about finding outdoor games for kids to play and to participate in because there are plenty of outdoor games for kids to choose from. For instance lids love to play Marco Polo in the swimming pool and they also love to play cowboys and Indians outdoors. They also like to play tag and hide and seek outdoors. When I was a child, I loved to play Star Wars outside almost everyday. The most crucial thing is that kids get to play outdoors to maintain a healthy body and mind. They need to play outdoors and be active for at least 30 minutes a day to maintain health. Creativity can also flourish more if children play both indoors and outdoors daily. There are many outdoor activities and many outdoor games for children to do during children’s outdoor play so playing outdoors should be encouraged a lot by both parents and educators. In fact, It is claimed that recess and children’s outdoor play are being encouraged by many schools as well as eating more healthy lunches and snacks. Children that are healthy both healthy physically and mentally will give society a bright future and children’s outdoor play can contribute to this goal.
