Charades, The Word Guessing Game

Added: 10/20/2007

Are you looking for a fun party game to play at your next get together? If you said yes, then you may want to run out to the store and pick up Charades. This is a fun word guessing game where people split up into two groups and try to guess what word is on a card without using any words or sounds. You do this by acting out the word with movements, it is easy to pick up and play, but is very hard to master. So if you are looking for a game that is going to get you physically involved then Charades is the game for you.

One of the most commonly played party games today is Charades. This is not your typical board game that just has you moving pieces around a board. This is a game that is going to get you up and get involved. That is what makes Charades such a great game. Also, this is a game that everyone will love to play. It is one of those games that everyone has heard of and most people have already played it, so most of the time you will not have to teach people how to play. The good news is, if you have to teach someone to play it will not take long. The rules are very simple, but that does not mean that Charades is an easy game to win. In fact, it could take a few games to really get the feel of your teammates and how they play the game. This is a very open ended game and is also a lot of fun to play. The reason why Charades is so much fun, is because all the crazy things people act out for you. This is the type of game that will bring people back to your house every weekend to play.

Playing Charades is very easy, and it has a simple goal. The whole point of the game is to get the people on your team to say a word that is on a card, without saying the word or showing them the word. Sounds easy does it not? Well what if I told you that you could not use any sounds. Does it sound so easy now? In most games of Charades you are not aloud to make any sounds at all (this includes talking, clapping, whistling, or anything else like that). Another rule is that you are not allow to move your lips as if trying to say the word. In other words you can not try and let your team mates read your lips. When you play Charades they only weapon you got is how well you can act out a word. Another very common rules is that you are not allow to point at objects in the room as well. This is because it would make the game really easy. Let's say you got the word book, all you would have to do is point to a book. That is why pointing at objects is not allowed. When you go to the story to buy your copy of Charades, keep in mind that there are a lot of different versions out their for you to choose from. One of these versions is called Celebrity Charades. Which is also a TV show, in which famous celebrities play Charades. I know it does not sound as fun to watch someone else play, but watching some funny actors makes it worth watching. People do some pretty crazy stuff.

So when you are thinking of what you would like to do at your next big blow out, think Charades. I know that it sounds like something that they only do on the movies, but it really is a fun game. Once you give it a chance and actually play it, you will never want to stop. Half the fun of playing this game is watching the other people act our funny words. Say your best friends got the word monkey, you cannot tell me that it would not be funny to watch him hop around your living room trying to act our the word. See it can be fun for everyone. In fact, lots of people at the party may choose just to watch everyone act everything out and not actually play the game. This is a great game and is something that everyone can play. I highly recommend it.
