Cartoon characters Invade Kids Bedding UK

Added: 09/17/2006

What makes a toddler feel special seems to also make a kid feel special. The repetition of a favourite character in themed sets for bedrooms is something that surely only a devoted parent can truly understand. A grandparent, like me can only wonder why having the exact same toddler bedding set or kids bedding set UK as everyone else makes anyone feel special or important.

Kids bedding UK is very repetitive but responsive to the desires of kids and toddlers. It almost invariably now involves a superhero or some cartoon character in a jumbo version whose enormous face would more likely give me a heart attack in the middle of the night than it would comfort me.

Have you seen them? They come in sets. You can get what is called a complete set. This gives you a nauseatingly similar version in a comforter, a bed skirt, double set of sheets with matching pillow sham and pillow case, as well as a repeat of the pattern on curtains for your kid’s windows! Imagine it. Now, not only is that character splattered all over your child’s lunch kit, sleeping bag, backpack and bath products but now it has also invaded their bedroom, walls and laundry hamper!

It seems that repetition is the key in kids bedding in the UK and North America anyways. Toddler bedding sets are what the kids want. Kids bedding UK is all about giving them what they want. Repetition!! Colour!! Characters!! Repetitive coloured characters!

The repeated theme of the over-exposed cartoon and superheroes is what is ruling kids bedding and toddler bedding. Kids bedding UK uses repetition to the max and kids love it. Parents may be sick to death of seeing the same characters plastered everywhere but the kids are not! And, as sick to death as a parent may be of any given character, they do love the happiness that those character driven products bring to their little ones. That’s why the toddler bedding set is so powerful a tool in the parent’s arsenal of bribery and coaxing. Show me one set of parents who haven’t resorted to it! Surely every UK kid’s bedding wouldn’t sport a character if such parents did not exist! Kids bedding UK can barely keep up with the new characters and parents can, therefore, barely keep up with their demand!

This is such a different world from that of my childhood. I had a beautiful patchwork quilt that my grandmother had made me. I loved it because it was all mine and unique. There was not another child anywhere on the planet that had a quilt even close to this one that was made especially for me in my favourite colours and fabrics by someone who knew me personally! Kids bedding UK now seems to want exactly the opposite. They want the same toddler bedding set everyone else has! It seems that uniformity has replaced uniqueness in what kids want and what parents deliver.

Either kids now don’t understand the importance of uniqueness, or perhaps I am just really getting old. Why in the world do they want the same kids bedding UK that every other kid has? Why do they feel more special having the same thing than they do having something unique?

I can understand a toddler feeling pretty special when their favourite television character miraculously shows up in their toddler bedding set, but surely older kids are wearier than that? I guess not. Perhaps I need a new outlook on the nature of uniqueness and what makes you special. Perhaps my grandchild can give me a lesson. I sorely need one.
