If you are a hostess for a wedding shower your first task is to arrange for food and the second task should be planning the entertainment aspect of the celebration. Shower games are traditional in most countries and there are many variations for each game. A wedding shower doesn't have to be a somber occasion if you include lots of fun and short games to play that will keep your guests laughing. Some popular games include the For Sale game, panty hose games, bag of white stuff, ten spices, word scramble and create a wedding dress or veil. All of these games are easy for everyone to play and don't require an investment in art or party supplies.
In particular, it is fun to play For Sale game at wedding showers or at bachelorette parties. The For Sale game is simple to set up and everyone can play, including the bride to be. Each player will need a sheet of paper that says "For Sale" and a fill in the blank space after this. Tell the players that they need to leave the blank space blank for now. The hostess will also need to provide pens or pencils for each of the players. The For Sale game can be played at couples showers too.
The object of the For Sale game is to think of an object in their house that they would like to sell. Players are not allowed to say their spouse or significant other's name. After they have decided on an item to sell they will need to write a classified ad for it. The ad doesn't have to be very long but it should be as detailed as possible. Tell players to list all of the positive attributes of the item that they are selling and not the negative ones. Remind them that they are trying to sell this item and get the best price for it. They should not write the name of the item they are selling in the classified ad.
After everyone has completed writing his or her classified ad, ask each individual to write the name of the groom-to-be for the women or the bride-to-be for men, in the blank space. At this point everyone will realize what the point of the game is and they may begin trying to scribble out what they have written, but don't let them! It is fun to play For Sale game and it is guaranteed to get everyone laughing especially if classified ads were written about old rusty items, difficult pets, old instruments or other household items that just don't work the way they are supposed to any more.
After everyone has had a turn to read their classified ad be sure to save them for the bride-to-be later. Many people keep the For Sale game ads as fun items to read at their wedding anniversary parties. A hostess can prepare a colored see-through plastic folder or a handmade decorated box to keep some of the wedding shower party games in to present to the bride at the end of the party. A hostess can also have some of the other attendees make the box together before the day of the party. The box can have personal messages written on it, pictures of the bride and groom and their friends and other findings that can be purchased at a craft store. This box will make a nice keepsake for the bride to enjoy after the party and for years to come.
