Other than being an American-Mexican director and producer Robert Rodriguez is also known as a writer, cinematographer, composer, production designer, visual effects, actor, camera, electrical and soundtrack department. No wonder Frank Miller chose Robert to direct and produce the Sin City movie where he got a talented and skilled partner who was jack of all. Robert being a Texas citizen usually shoots his films in Mexico or Texas. In his career he has won sixteen nominations and twenty awards. Robert Rodriguez has also directed “Desperado” (1995), “Four Rooms” (1995), “Spy Kids” (2000) (it’s other two more parts too) and “Once Upon a time in Mexico” (2003).


The Sin City movie is originally inspired by a novel written by the director and producer of the movie Frank Miller. The movie is basically based on three of Frank Miller’s novel that are all combined in this movie. The movie has three stories going on with three sets of different casts and characters. One of the stories in the movie has been taken from the novel “The Hard Goodbye” starring Mickey Rourke, Carla Gugino, Rutger Hauer, Elijah Wood, Jaime King, Jason Douglas and Frank Miller himself that is about a hulking man who goes out to find the killer of his lover. The other one is from another novel of Frank Miller “That Yellow Bastard” which has popular and known celebrities like Jessica Alba, Bruce Willis, Nick Stahl, Michael Madsen, Powers Boothe, Makenzie Vega, Jude Ciccolella, and Nick Offerman which focuses on an aged police officer that protects a young girl from a child molester. The third story going on in the movie is from “The Big Fat Kill” with a number of actors and actresses including Rosario Dawson, Michael Clarke Duncan, Clive Owen, Alxeis Bledel, Brittany Murphy and Nicky Katt which revolves around a street war between prostitutes and mercenaries.


Sin City movie (2005) is said to be a brilliant movie of a novel which was liked by most of the fans. But some of the people argue over the fact that the movie shows a lot of violence which may be disturbing to most people. The film is R-rated with violence, adult scenes and a dark, scary side to it. But the thing that made Sin City movie recognized was its picturization. The movie has been shot in black and white with a few flashes of color for particular objects. Due to which the film was awarded the 2005 Cannes Film Festival award for the Technical Grand Prize for the films color combinations. The fans and critics loved this new change brought to us by Robert and Frank, the directors and producers of the movie.


Although the movie has a dark, cold and scary story to it still Sin City movie had fourteen nominations and eleven wins including Teen Choice Award and MTV Movie Award. Both of these awards were given to Jessica Alba who plays a nineteen year old stripper in the movie won the award for MTV Movie Award for Sexiest Performance. I still remember Jessica Alba’s exact words when she came to receive the award saying “Thanks to all the perverts who voted for me.” People seem to forget their applauses and laughs when she said that. The Sin City movie has also won Top Box Office Film, Outstanding Director in Motion Picture, Best Animated Film, Best Cinematography, Best Editing and Outstanding Visual Effects awards.
