Be Aware of Chickenpox

All of us are accustomed with the words chickenpox. It is in general caused by the Varicella-Zoster virus and is denoted as one of the most common highly infectious childhood diseases. It has a great possibility to spread from person to person through direct contact and sneezing. For most of the people the symptoms happen to be generally mild. However, the symptoms may be severe for some people. In short, the symptoms of chickenpox are fever, rash, and tiredness often leading to severe skin infections, pneumonia, damage, or even death.
In reality the chickenpox happens to be a highly contagious disease, caused by a virus belonging to the herpes family. There is a common saying, as everyone is familiar with water; all of us are familiar with chickenpox! In general, chickenpox occurs at best during the end of the winter and the beginning of the spring affecting children between the ages of two to eight and if not checked at the initial level can take the form of epidemics. Now, how to detect the beginning of the disease? If an infected person coughs or sneezes, there are high chances that the virus will spread in the air and will affect the other healthy persons at the time of breathing. Keep it in mind that the virus is known to be present in the body long before the skin rash appears. This happens to be a prominent reason why there are so many cases of contamination. Now, even if the virus enters into any able bodied individual there is the need of two weeks for development and only then the rash will appear. But even if this situation remains, that does not remain that one has not become infectious within the stipulated period of these two weeks. What are the symptoms of chickenpox? They are fever, itchy, red bumps that transform into round blisters with a red base. In due course these blisters will form a crust and will get dry in the long run. This period appears to be most dangerous. For at least 5 days, it is instructed, that the infected person should not get into close contact with people that have not suffered from chickenpox. If the children are affected they should not go to school because they can infect others. However, the pregnant women who had been affected by chickenpox earlier are indeed safe with their babies. If she has not made chickenpox and got in contact with an infected person, the doctor can administer antibodies of chickenpox within 4 days of a possible contamination. This will be followed by the decrease of dry scabs. But it should be noted that even after the termination of the disease the virus will not disappear completely, but will shed inside the nervous cells and will continue to remain inactive for years. At a certain point, when the immune system will work improperly the virus will reactivate bringing about shingles. This is indeed a painful disease affecting the face and trunk nerves and also causing a rash to appear.

Being affected with a highly contagious disease, there is always the need of good food. In general, the patients remain weak during this period, for which they do not prefer to eat anything. But is the responsibility of the medical practitioner or the relatives to provide best food as possible, once he/she returns on the path of development. But this is not all. There are other things that should be maintained by a person affected with chickenpox. The infected person must be prohibited from flying. The mains reasons are the air conditioners. In the airplanes the air conditioners transmit the virus to the other passengers, swiftly and more easily. Precautionary measures should be taken since the virus happen to be dangerous for those affected with the AIDS or cancer or even in the case of a person following a treatment on immunosuppressive drugs. Who are therefore free from the risks? Only those who have a good immune system response and those who have been vaccinated against chickenpox will not develop the disease.
