A Pumpkin Pie Recipe is ideal for many Holidays

Added: 11/16/2006

It is that time of year and that time of year us called the holiday season. The holiday season seems to start with Halloween and to end on New Years Day. The holidays are a time to celebrate with family and friends. The holidays are a time to cook up some great entrees, side dishes, appetizers, and desserts. A great dessert for the holidays is pumpkin pie.

Holidays are about celebrating with family and friends. When celebrating the holidays with family and friends food is a very essential portion of the holiday celebration. The holiday season is thought to start off with Halloween and to end with New Years Day. The type of foods that you will need for the holiday season will vary from appetizers, entrees, side dishes, desserts, and plenty of drinks that range from punch and iced tea to wine and a variety of cocktails; for example a great and traditional Christmas drink is eggnog that can be created with or without rum. Also, champagne with a holiday meal is always a great idea. Holiday appetizers can include deviled eggs or garlic bread plus mushrooms stuffed with crab meat. Also there can be spinach and artichoke dip with pieces of French bread for dipping and cheese fondue. Holiday side dishes can include green bean casserole, some type of potato dish such as potatoes au gratin, or a variety of stuffing. I make a stuffing for Thanksgiving that includes walnuts, apples, and mushrooms. Holiday entrees usually include either turkey or ham however, I have eaten meatloaf for Thanksgiving and tamales and lasagna for Christmas. Holiday desserts are my favorite part of any holiday meal. For holiday desserts I bake two pumpkin pies, two English apple pies and an assortment of cookies that range from chocolate chip cookies and snickerdoodles to gingerbread cookies. In order to prepare and to bake pumpkin pies I need to have a pumpkin pie recipe.

Pumpkin pies are the ideal desert for the holiday season. People can make pumpkin pie for Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah, New Years Eve, and New Years Day; although most pumpkin pies are bought or made for Thanksgiving, Christmas and Hanukkah. There are many pumpkin pie recipes that can be found in cookbooks and on the back of many pumpkin filling cans. It may surprise many people but there is even a pumpkin pie recipe on the back of the bottle of Philosophy’s three in one pumpkin pie shower gel, bubble bath, and shampoo and conditioner. Philosophy always has recipes on the back of there three in one shampoo, shower gel, bubble bath, and conditioner bottles such as recipes for chocolate mint chip ice cream, key lime pie, and cinnamon buns.

Below is a pumpkin pie recipe although if a healthier pumpkin recipe is desired the, perhaps a pumpkin bread recipe would make the perfect holiday dessert.
1 unbaked pie shell
1 15 ounce can of pumpkin puree
1tbsp. sugar
1 cup brown sugar
½ tsp. salt
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ginger
2 tsp. molasses
3 eggs, beaten
1 cup evaporated milk

Mix all ingredients before blending in eggs and evaporated milk. Carefully pour pumpkin pie filling into the pie shell. Bake the pumpkin pie for about forty minutes at 425 degrees or until the pumpkin pie has set to the desired consistency.

Pumpkin pies can be topped of with whipped cream or ice cream. Most pumpkin pies if they are topped with ice cream the ice cream is either French vanilla ice cream or original vanilla ice cream. If you wish to step out of the box you can put chocolate ice cream on top of pumpkin pie. In addition, if you want a very exciting pumpkin pie recipe then, please try to make a pumpkin pie cheesecake in order to complete your holiday meal. No matter what pumpkin pie recipe you use, pumpkin pie is the perfect delicious dessert to top off any holiday celebration.
