This is a party game that won the Mensa Select game award (this award is only given to five board games a year). The name of the game, Apples To Apples, is a play on the phrase that is called apples and oranges. This is a very fast paced party game that people play with four to ten players. Apples to Apples was made and published by Out of the Box Publishing. Of course, there are a few different forms of this game out there on the market. The original version is made for adults but they also make a different one of kids. In fact, there is one for young kids called Apples to Apples: Junior, and then there is another one for slightly older kids called Apples to Apples: 9 plus. These are the type of board games that you would want your kids to play. Not only will it teach them something while they play it, but they will also have a good time. It is proven when a child has fun learning something, he walks away with more information on that subject. There is also a version that church going people can enjoy. This one is called Apples to Apples: Bible Edition. As you can tell, this one is played just like the first one, but this one has words related to the Bible. Either one you play is a great game, so you can not go wrong.

The way this party game is played is a lot different than other party games on the market. First, when you start playing the game you have to choose a judge. Be sure to choose a fair judge because he is the one that will be awarding the points. After that the judge draws an adjective card and puts it in front of the other players. Then the other players pick a noun out of the other stack of cards. After it is all done, the players hand their cards back to the judge face down, and then he mixes them up. The judge will then go through the nouns and see which one he thinks it the best choice for that adjective. When ever he chooses,the player that submitted that card gets the point. Here is where the curve ball comes in. The judge has the over all rule, so he gets to choose which one he thinks it the best match. He can make his choice off many things such as which word is most creative. This is why when you play Apples to Apples you have to make sure you hand your cards to the judge face down. That way he does not know what player submitted what card. This adds to the fun of the game. When you play this game everyone will have a good time, just because you will get some funny sayings when you put the cards together.

This is the perfect game to play at your next big get together. When you start playing this game you will not want to stop, it is that much fun. It is one of those games that you have to play before you know if you like it. That is because it does not sound like a fun game, but more like school work. Once you start playing, you will see why it is so much fun. Of course, it does teach you about nouns and adjectives a little bit too. That is why the game is good for kids to play. I mean, if they are going to have to learn about this type of stuff, it might as well be fun. If they would have made it fun when I was growing up, I may of done better in my classes. Then I would have been a lot better at this game. You should give it a try, you will be happy you did.
