For those who want some extra cash to spend at Christmastime there are always a number of different Christmas jobs. Many of them have evolved from the increasing commercialization of the holiday. As more and more people hit the malls looking for gifts, the department stores begin to hire more sales people. Those who choose this particular Christmas job might receive an extra benefit. Some department stores allow their seasonal employees to get a discount on their Christmas purchases.
For those who do not want to remain indoors there are other Christmas jobs. Every corner where a collection of evergreen trees has gone on sale has created an added spot in need of one or more seasonal employees. For those who are content indoors but who don't want to stand for many hours the season provides yet another Christmas job. Every toy department where a long line of children will later wait to see Santa has put out a request for seasonal employees.
Some Christmas jobs provide the person who takes them an excuse to attend far more than one xmas party. Caterers are very busy during the Christmas season. They could be looking to hire seasonal help. Musicians too have a full schedule during the Christmas season. A good singer or piano player stands an excellent chance of finding some great Christmas jobs.
In 2005 the news media has provided coverage of some very interesting and different Christmas jobs. These are jobs that can be found in the city that seems to be one huge xmas party, the City of New York. They are jobs that have emerged from an addition to the nativity program at Rockefeller Center.
This year the live animals and people who participate in the staging of the Nativity scene include a group of camels. To be precise, they include both a camel and a dromedary. The needs of those animals have led to the creation of some new Christmas jobs.
The animals eat heartily while in New York, but they have much less opportunity to get some exercise. If this fact were not addressed, then the camel and the dromedary would both gain an unhealthy amount of weight. In order to deal with this concern the men and women who stage the Nativity scene at Rockefeller Center have created some new Christmas jobs.
They hire various individuals to walk the camel and the dromedary through the streets of New York City. This seasonal job presents many more challenges than your standard dog-walking job. Those who walk the camel and the dromedary need to be prepared for the startled tourist, the surprised commuter or the hurried Christmas shopper. Sometimes these walkers even find themselves coming face to face with a New York cop.
Due to the newness of these Christmas jobs few members of the N.Y.P.D. have become aware of their existence. Therefore those cops are not expecting to see a camel or a dromedary on the streets of New York. If a camel or dromedary nose suddenly nuzzles one such cop, he or she might suspect foul play. Fortunately, the cops seem to quickly realize what is going on, and so far no camel or dromedary has been injured.
