Anthomancy is divination by using flowers. Some of the girls looking for guys and wondering if they loved them would use the old "He loves me, he loves me not" routine. Since most flowers have an odd number of petals, whichever way you started, it would turn out the other way. So if you always started out with "He loves me" then you would be heartbroken by the time you got to the end.

Science has also found that most flowers follow a Fibonacci sequence. Most of those are odd numbers so the ratio of three to two is not good with the "Love me, love me not" saying. Most of the girls are quite optimistic and simply pick another flower and try again.

Like blowing a dandelion will tell you how many years until you find your true love. It is said that you ca blow on the dandelion and however many jutes are left afterwards if the number of years until you find your soul mate.

The yellow dandelion is used when you want to know if someone likes butter. You hold the flower under their chin and if you see a yellow reflection, they most certainly do like butter.
