Reality television has taken television by storm. There are more reality shows on the airwaves today than scripted television shows. However, the phrase ‘reality television’ is often misleading. This is due to that fact that that reality shows don’t have a script per say but some of the situations on the reality shows seem to be set up in order to get ratings which is great for television and the success of these shows. In fact, the tension and the drama that is viewed on the most popular reality shows make people come back over and over again season after season. For instance, Project Runway will start production on its forth season, Top Chef just started its second season, and America’s Next Model just started its seven season. Even though reality shows don’t show the real world completely I think that they will be on television for a long time; at least I hope so.

The educational reality shows are the reality shows that are worth watching because they are both entertaining and educational at the same time. For instance, Top Chef teaches viewers about cooking and Project Runway teaches viewers about fashion design. In addition, America’s Next Top Model informs people about the world of modeling. Project Runway and America’s Next Top Model are somewhat similar because they both have models. However the former focuses on the fashion designers and the latter focuses on the models. These three reality shows are very popular because they have been on for awhile. Project will soon start production on its fourth season, Top Chef just started its second season, and America’s Next to Model has been on television the longest because it has just started its seventh season. This show doesn’t talk the number of seasons that it has been on; it talks about the number of cycles it has gone through. I think to talk about a show’s cycles is a bit weird but America’s Next Top Model is a great reality show.

America’s Next Top Model is hosted by Tyra Banks. Tyra Banks was a runway model in the nineties. She is also an African American model. She is also an executive producer of this reality show. This show puts models through many interesting tests and photo shoots every week. The models on the show have posed in outfits that represented t he careers that they will pursue after their modeling careers come to an end. Also, the models have posed as fictional characters such as Little Boy Blue, Gretel, of Hansel and Gretel, Cinderella, and Snow White. In addition, the models have had photo shoots in London and Thailand. This season of American’s Next Top model eliminated one model because she didn’t attend a photo shoot because she was sick.

Tyra Banks also has her own talk show that has her name all over it because it is called The Tyra Banks Show. This talk show is has just started its second season. The talk show has discussed many important topics such as anorexia and bulimia, interracial dating, racism, and lighter topics such as discussions with other models such as Heidi Klum and Naomi Campbell. Tyra Banks came up with the idea for this top model TV show. I can’t wait to see what else she has up her sleeve for this crop of aspiring models and I am sure that there are many other people who can’t wait to see what’s next on America’s Next Top Model. Therefore, tune in and see what develops; no pun intended.
