"We're getting married in London!" Wouldn't that be great to announce to your family and friends, especially if you don't live in England? A London wedding means a not only a stay in one of the most exciting cities in the world, you'll understand at least half of what the natives say. And London goes out of its way to attract wedding parties from all over the world.
Pick the day of your London wedding at a time of low-volume air traffic. August is the traditional holiday month for most of the British – this is the WORST month to go. And June, the luckiest month to get married, is the busiest month for anything connected with weddings. Try for early spring, fall or winter. There’s still plenty to do, and it won’t be so crowded. Don’t be put off by the stereotypical London rainy day – the weather is so changeable in England that if you don’t like it, just wait about fifteen minutes and it’ll usually change. Your favorite travel agent or travel website will provide the most up to date airline deals.
This gives you a great chance to surf the Net – something you’re bound to do anyway. There are many websites that list the latest details on wedding venues, photographers and caterers. Here are a few sites that can help you narrow your search:

•Venue Reservations: London Zoo: (http://www.venuereservations.co.uk/londonzoo.htm) Yes, you could choose to get married in an elegant church, grand club or stately manor. But for some of us, a dream wedding is at London Zoo. Your guests will never forget it.
•Area 51/ English to American Translations: (http://www.area51newmexico.com/translations.php) Don’t run into communications problems planning your wedding in England. You might think you know English if you’ve lived all your life in America. Trust me, you don’t. Canadians can mostly skip this worry, being inundated with British English since the womb.
There are some other things to keep in mind about your London wedding. The food in London is fabulous. The cuisines of most of the world can be found in London. And don’t shy away from English food – it’s tasty and filling! Traditional English weddings feature a huge white wedding cake, which tastes like American cake. You can rent your wedding clothes in England or transport it from America.
The strength of the dollar against the pound is always changing. You must save plenty in advance. Budgeting can help you wisely choose the most beautiful, silly or romantic London wedding for you. You can have it as English or as American as you like. And if worse comes to worse, you can always have your wedding in London, Ontario. Or, you can check out some websites or books on traditional English weddings and mimic them as best you could. Tell all your guests they have to talk in Cockney accents and use phrases like, “Lovely jubbly!” They’ll never forget it.
