Usually, when one thinks of New Jersey, one thinks of smoke stacks and dirty air, not a thriving and sizzling nightlife or party town. Well, just across the river from Manhattan, Jersey City offers up tons of restaurants, nightclubs, bars, and theatres. There is plenty to do, so much in fact that there is hardly a complaint of “What’s there to do?” Manhattan may have just met its match as far as nightlife goes in Jersey City!
Whether you are a local to Jersey City, New Jersey or a long-time resident, make it a Jersey night to remember! Most people think of New York City has the city that never sleeps, and while that name may have stuck to the Big Apple like peanut butter, there is plenty of fun to be had in good old Jersey City, NJ! Jersey City is located in Hudson County, New Jersey and is home to plenty of restaurants, bars, nightclubs, and fun hang outs which make it one of the best cities in which to party!

A Jersey night can be filled with fun, adventure, romance, and excitement. You just have to know where to go. In fact, once you find out all of Jersey City’s nightlife secrets, you just might not want to party anywhere else if you can help it! There are tons of nightclubs and bars if you want to get your party on. Just ask any of the locals for their favorites. In fact, Uncle Joe’s located at 154 First Street (off Marin Boulevard) is one of the long-time local favorites. The scene is comprised of local pool sharks, tattooed locals, and punk rockers galore. In the past Uncle Joe’s was once a prominent gay bar, but it has proven to be a great stomping ground for local and touring rock bands, jazz fusion combos, and singer-songwriters that appeal to everyone.

Another local dig is Oddfellows, which actually also has a location in Hoboken, New Jersey. The location in Jersey City is found downtown at 111 Montgomery Street (at Warren). This haunt is a restaurant and bar with an unmistakably New Orleans feel to it. If you are in the mood for some good down home Cajun cooking, this is your place. The place is open late so that those who want to party into the wee hours after dinner don’t have to very travel far – they can just head over to the bar area, or stay at their table. The bar stays open till 2 AM.

Aside from the main attractions, there are plenty of local restaurants and neighborhood places that make for a perfect night out, especially for that fabulous first date. All of the bars and clubs make for great entertainment and good times with your friends any night of the week. In fact, Jersey City is so conducive to an exciting night that many bachelor and bachelorette parties are planned and executed right here in town.

If you still aren’t sold on just how fun Jersey City can be for nightlife, just ask your friends in town. If you’re new to the area, you might want to check out some local listings or websites that offer reviews and user comments on the local digs. You can search for nightclubs, theatres, bars, restaurants, and even coffee shops according to style, price, location, and type of food. Spend a few minutes looking up the most popular places and then check them out.

Have a vibrant Jersey night when you spend an evening in Jersey City. And remember, just because you are not in New York City doesn’t mean that you can’t have a Jersey night to remember. There are plenty of local dive bars or glamorous clubs, depending on what your mood is for partying that night. If you prefer a nice restaurant and smooth music, Jersey City has that as well.
