A great way to celebrate October with your child is to hold a toddler Halloween party. Halloween can sometimes be a tricky event, as toddlers are often too young to walk far in the dark with you for trick-or-treating. In addition, some toddlers are frightened by the often seen scary Halloween images. To top it off, your toddler is probably ready for bed by the time trick-or-treating begins. As some parents may carry their toddler from house to house to celebrate the night, you may find it much more rewarding to hold a toddler Halloween party in your home at a reasonable time.
There are several issues to keep in mind when deciding to hold the party yourself.
Keep in mind the age of your toddler. A toddler party will run much smoother if you limit the number of other children to a reasonable amount. Too many young ones running around you home can cause havoc and entertaining them with activities may prove to be difficult if you have invited too many children. One guideline is to follow the “three times rule”. For example, if your child is one year old, invite three other children to the party. If your child is three years old, nine other children should be the top limit for your toddler party.
Plan your toddler party for a time in the day when you feel your child will be well rested and alert. Check with other parents to confirm if the time you have chosen will suit them as well. In addition, keep in mind that weekends are most certainly most convenient; however other parents may have additional weekend duties that would prevent them from attending. When holding a toddler party, it would be best if you recruit at least two or three parents to assist in helping you.
Toddler Halloween parties can be a real treat for everyone. One of the top activities will be eating! You can have lots of fun preparing cupcakes and small snacks. Use your imagination and try to stay with a certain color theme. If you are having a toddler Halloween party, try to decorate as many food items as you can with orange and black.
Keep scary Halloween decorations to a minimum. Instead, opt for fun fall time related themes. All toddlers are fascinated with pumpkins and you can choose to use them to center your theme. Pumpkins can also be used as a great party activity. Obviously, toddlers are too young to carve pumpkins, but they can have a great time if given brightly colored markers to decorate their own pumpkins. It is an easy activity that promotes imagination and creativity.
Other activities for a toddler Halloween party may be leaf picture making. Toddlers can be led to a safe area, given small paper bags and have fun collecting colorful leaves. Once they are done, you can direct them to sit at a table and have fun gluing the leaves onto colorful paper. The use of glue sticks will stop the possibility of a toddler tasting the glue and all will have fun. Use you imagination on this special day and give yourself and your child the gift of a cherished memory.
