The Virgin Suicides is a wild movie that leaves you with a funny feeling in your stomach. When I say funny feeling I do not mean that in a good way. The movie is about five beautiful sisters that live with their over protective parents. One night the girls come home late, and to punish them the parents take them out of school and ban them to the house. They are never to leave again. Soon after this they start communicating with four boys by way of lights. This goes on for a few months. Finally after some time passes, the boys choose to help the girls escape their house. However, when they come over to the house they found that the girls have committed suicide. Thus you get the name for your movie, The Virgin Suicides. After that, the parents say they are not able to live in that house any longer and move away never to return again. The house gets resold in no time, and the mystery goes unsolved. The Virgin Suicides, of course, goes into more detail during the movie and what happens afterwards, but that is just a small recap. If you have never seen this movie, it is something you should think about renting. It is one of those movies that everyone should see, because of how well done it is.

The Virgin Suicides is a movie that is not much talked about any more. The main reason for this is because it was made way back in 1999 and has long since passed its prime. However, that does not mean it is not a good movie. In fact, lots of older movies are better than the movies you see today. This is because they are a lot different and did not just rely on computer pictures to sell the movie. These movies had to have a story line to sell well and that is what this one has. Lots of movies that are based on books are never as good as the book itself. This, however, is not the case with The Virgin Suicides. I am not saying that the movie is better than the novel, I am however, saying that the movie is as good as the book. That is saying a lot for a movie that is turned into a book. Usually the books are able to tell a much more detailed story. The novels are a lot longer than the books and the movies have to be cut down. So lots of times they take out the details and just put in the action parts. This however, takes away from the story and what it is trying to get across. This is not the case with The Virgin Suicides. The movie has found a good way to get the details across in a way that makes it entertaining to watch on the big screen. That is hard to do,but that is what you need to do if you are going to turn a book into a well respected movie like this one.

If you have not seen The Virgin Suicides yet, waste no more time and go out and rent this movie. This is a movie that you will not soon forget about. Although it may not be a movie that you feel is worth entering into your DVD collection library, it is a movie that is worth your time to see once. This movie does, however, have some graphic details in it and the story line may not be suitable for younger children. So make tonight a night you watch a movie that you have never seen, go out to your local movie rental store and pick up The Virgin Suicides.
