A first date idea might come to you when you least expect it to or you may have one already planned - whatever the situation, the first date idea has to be a good one.
You don't have to choose the first date idea on your own, you can ask for the other person's opinion. This shows that you are being courteous as well as showing that you do care about the other person's opinion. You are not showing that you haven't thought about the first date idea, they will understand that 1st dating is a tough decision to make, because if you get it wrong and totally mess up, you will not be likely to get a second date and if you like this person then you will want to get it right first time and show them that you had the best first date idea planned out nicely.
1st dating rules are also there they may be planned out in your head or you may have learned them from someone else but whatever the situation you must remember to be yourself otherwise it could and probably will go all wrong and you could very well have only yourself to blame for that. If you do go to a restaurant you must remember that you are in a public place and are showing the other person that you are an adult who can act properly in a public place. Granted they are not saying that you can't otherwise they may never of agreed to a date in the first place but just behave yourself and learn to be yourself and that should be more than enough to keep the prospect of a second date more then open.
If you are however entering your date at your own place then don't forget that they are not coming over because they want to sleep with you they are coming over to maybe see how you can act when you two are alone in the same place. This might not be the best thing for you to accept especially if you can't cook but that can lead to an amusing story just so long as it doesn't involve a fire truck coming to rescue you.
The prospect of a first date is not there to scare you if anything the other person could very well be as scared as what you are and that could lead to some nervous conversations with long periods of silence and no break in between. For a first date the conversation is a crucial part and you must keep it going at a steady pace also your speech must be steady and not slurred or out of control if you are speaking too fast. Ask the other person some serious questions nothing to demanding about them just their general interests and other small details that won't require them to look at you and think "why is this person asking me such a demanding question?" Try and make them relaxed, also maybe you can tell them a soft joke that will make them laugh and then you can tell that the joke was a definite icebreaker. If you are relaxed and calm, they will be also relaxed and calm. But obviously don't overdo it and lay back on your chair acting like you are Mr. Ice Cool that will not get you anywhere and the chance of a second date will evaporate before your eyes.
It's probably the oldest saying ever, but just remember to be yourself, that way you know that you will have a strong chance of a second date because they agreed to go out with you for a first date, because of who you are and not who you are not.
