Many people like to talk and joke about sex and sexuality. In addition, many professionals talk and write about sex and sexuality on a daily basis. Also, many people like to debate about people’s sexual orientation as the measure of their readiness and moral fortitude to engage in many activities that other people take for granted. There has been large debate regarding whether homosexuals are socially and morally fit to adopt children. Many people like to debate the merits of homosexuality. This is probably due to the fact that these people believe that being homosexual is a choice that human beings can make. Also, people who are against homosexuality probably view homosexuals as deviant members of society. Also, many people who are against homosexuality believe that homosexuals are also pedophiles. Both of these feelings regarding homosexuality can lead people to the belief that homosexuals shouldn’t be allowed to adopt children. However, if people would take the time to examine homosexuality and homosexual behavior they might come to realize that there is no such thing as homosexual behavior apart from heterosexual behavior. In other words, there is only human behavior and sexual orientation has really nothing to do with people’s behavior. In short, homosexuals are just as socially are morally able to adopt children. Therefore, it seems as if adoption and homosexual problems are subjective. Furthermore, adoption and homosexual people should be allowed to come together.

There are many pros and cons relating to sexual orientation and adopting a child or children. Many people believe that a people’s sexual orientation shouldn’t be a factor in deciding whether they should be allowed to adopt children. There are other people who firmly believe that adoption and homosexual people shouldn’t interact with each other. In fact, in 1977, Florida passed a law that prohibited gay and lesbian couples from adopting children. However, did you know that it is estimated by researchers that the total number of children nationwide that live with at least one gay parent falls between six and 14 million children?

There are many people against homosexuals adopting children because they believe that stability is a key ingredient in raising emotionally, physically, and mentally healthy children; homosexuals couples simply can’t provide the stability that children need to thrive in society. However, it has also been pointed out that many lesbians and gay men are in committed relationships. Also, both homosexual and heterosexual relationships have problems on and off. It is also claimed by some of the opponents of adoption and homosexual people claim that lesbians and gay men are more likely to molest children. This statement seems to be another myth about homosexuality. This is due to the fact that there is no connection between homosexuality and pedophilia. Both sexual orientations deal with adult sexual attraction to others and not a sexual desire towards children. It seems as if the adoption and homosexual debate will go on for a long time unless and until some people take a fresh look at homosexuality.
