There are lots and lots of movies that capture your imagination and let you feel the kind of feelings that the filmmaker had while making the movie. One such movie is Vanilla Sky by Cameron Crowe. It is considered one of the best films ever to have hit the big screen and it is both a critically highly acclaimed and a commercially successful movie. Check out this article to find out more about the movie.
Vanilla Sky by Cameron Crowe is an American movie which was considered one of the most successful movies when it was released. The movie stars Tom Cruise, possibly the biggest star in the world today, Penelope Cruz, the extremely talented Spanish actress, and Cameron Diaz, the extraordinarily beautiful American actress, in key roles. The movie actually revolves around life of David, the character played by Tom Cruise. The character of David is the lead character around which the plot of the movie is made. David is an affluent young man who can get simply anything he wants from his life. His character is that of a very wealthy young man who have always had everything he wanted from his life, without him having to even ask for anything. After his father’s demise, he is given 51% of the share of the entire fortune that his father owned and he becomes the undoubted heir and future owner of the fortune. But the twist in Vanilla Sky comes in the form of the board of directors who are in charge of the rest of the 49% of the shares of the fortune. He is not at all happy with the arrangement of his father and he especially hates the fact that he has to share the control over his huge fortune with some silly old men who were in charge when his father was there. He despises them to no extent possible and he even calls them the seven dwarfs, out of sheer loathe. He has an attorney whom he hates for his sheer incompetence. He is on the lookout for another good attorney as he decides to fire the existing attorney. He has a woman in his life named Juliana, who he sleeps regularly with. The girl Juliana is a raving beauty and she gives him all the pleasure he wants, but still David is reluctant to have a permanent relationship with the girl. He is not emotionally attached to the girl and he uses her only for sleeping around whenever he feels like. One day, he meets a girl called Sofia in a party. He is simply head over heels for the lady and he falls for her like anything. He tries to talk to the lady and keeps avoiding Juliana and to his surprise, he ends up walking away with the lady from the party. Then the story takes a violent twist which sees David passing out in the sidewalk and then Juliana driving David in a car like crazy and threatening to kill them both. In the process, there is a car accident and David gets hurt badly.
Vanilla Sky actually starts with David telling something to a psychiatrist and he has been accused of killing Sofia, the girl who entered his life. From then on, the story takes twist after twist and keeps you at the edge of the seat forever. The film also deals with a concept called Lucid Dream, of which the protagonist is a part of. The film was a commercial success and film critics gave a mixed response to the movie. A lot of them called it a brave effort and called it a fantastic thriller of the genre. Some of the critics were not so impressed with the movie and called Vanilla Sky too intellectual or too confusing for the common masses to understand. Overall, Vanilla Sky is an excellent movie and you should watch out for it.
