A Closed Adoption Is a "Secret"

A closed adoption is one that is often what they refer to as taking place in "secret". It is when a couple legally adopts an infant and a seal is in effect on the records pertaining to the child's natural birth mother. This stops anyone from viewing the records publicly. Even though both closed, adoptions and open adoptions each have their own benefits as a rule.
A closed adoption is a secret. This is because it is something that is silent between all parties and this is the adoptive parents and the birth mother. The adoptive parents and the natural birth parent have no interaction whatsoever with each other and the records as to the name of the child's birth parent and birth certificate have an official seal put on them. This seal prevents the records from being open and available for view to anyone including the adoptive parents. Therefore, the whole adoption is sort of hush hush if one looks at it that way, and only top secret to those who are involved with it directly.

In a closed adoption case, the original birth certificate has a replacement, and this replacement is a duplicate birth certificate that lists the adoptive parents as being the actual biological parents to the infant that is the said adoptive child in question.

Closed adoptions used to be very popular and a traditional means of adoption at one time. Now those who are looking to adopt a child tend to lean more in favor of open adoptions as a rule, this truth is something that one cannot deny. All the same, a closed adoption is something that one still can consider as an option.

A closed adoption is very advantageous in many ways for those who wish to adopt. Some of the visible advantages of this form of adoption are numerous. Some of the most pronounced of these rewards are the fact that the there is no exchange of any kind of identifying information that is provided for either the birth parent or the adoptive parents. The only information is that of a medical history and or physical characteristics that qualify as non-identifying in nature will be available if needed. A closed adoption also provides both the birth parent and adoptive parents with an overall sense of closure on the adoption process as a rule. Something that brings a feeling of security and peace of mind to all parties involved.

For the birth mother, the advantages are also evident, she gets to maintain her privacy and it helps to reduce their fears with regards to being accosted in the future by the child that they had to give up for adoption. One of these fears would have to deal with having to explain to said child years later exactly why they had to place the child in adoption. Therefore, a closed adoption is beneficial in that it allows the birth mother to not having to feel bad about making the best choice that she could at that moment in time for her baby.

The advantages of a closed adoption for adoptive parents are that they can feel at ease with having their family time without any fears of all the things that plague new adoptive parents per se. They do not have to feel restrained or threatened in any way by the birth parent either. This does tend to take a load off the mind of any new perspective adoptive parents.

Even though both closed, adoptions and open adoptions each have their own benefits as a rule. A closed adoption is still the best option in many ways as opposed to an open adoption. Closed adoptions are very anonymous and remain secret. Open adoptions are just the opposite. Because both the biological parents to the infant and the adoptive parents must, exchange personal data and can decide if they both want to remain in contact with each other for the sake of the child.
