Holidays and celebrations have become part of our normal lives we simply cannot imagine one without the other. Nothing seems to hold the essence of this truth then the Christmas holiday. This being especially true for Christians. Christmas celebration is wide spreading and even for religions that otherwise don't acknowledge Christmas holiday as such. There seems to be a whole variation of beliefs when it comes to Xmas day.
Just like the pagan beliefs surrounding Christmas are about the essence of universal yet earthly magic. The Christmas holiday is also an excuse to indulge. This means people end up having the financial hangover after the Christmas holiday. This leads to the joy and tradition of Xmas day being all about money. It is the belief that presents should be exchanged which leads to this. Yes it is clear that the Christmas holiday season means that we have to give. It is a tradition, which has created a cycle of greed and dissatisfaction.
The time families spend together is now all about getting the best you can for you. The spirit of Christmas is all about filling our own selfish needs in the name of giving. We give with one hand while we open the other to receive. Every child and adult will be spending most of the morning tearing through presents that they have been given. While you are opening one present you are waiting to open the other to see what you have got. It is during this time that many people will forget the real meaning of Christmas day. The traditions of Christmas day as we all known go far back. Is anyone out there truly remembering the real reason why we celebrate Christmas?
It seems that many children today are not being educated on the reasons on Christmas and why we celebrate it. They know that they get presents on this day and it seems that they do not know why. As a child we all remember getting our presents from Santa Claus, but not many of us can remember going to church on that day.
Christmas is a religious holiday and many people that celebrate Christmas will not go to church. This doesn't mean that they shouldn't celebrate Christmas; it just means that they have their own way of celebrating Christmas. If they do not want to go to church on that day then that is their choice. However if you have children, then they may not become educated on the reasons on why we celebrate Christmas. If everyone knew the reasons why we celebrate Christmas, then maybe they wouldn't be so hasty when tearing through their presents.
Christmas is a time for peace and love, it is also a time to give and receive presents. These reasons for Christmas can make it many people's favourite day of the year. There are even some people that love Christmas so much that they celebrate it all year round. They have Christmas day every day, presents and all. Maybe some people do take the traditions of Christmas a bit too far. Some people just can't handle the Christmas lunch everyday. But hopefully they can understand the real reasons of Christmas and can remember these reasons every time that they celebrate Christmas.
